Cisco Route and Switch Training

Welcome to the NC-Expert Routing and Switching Portfolio

Cisco's CCNA, CCNP and CCIE R&S (Route and Switch) program is the oldest certification program in Cisco's portfolio, starting in the early 90's. As such there are several problems with market today.

The first problem is there are many training companies in the market today selling these so it is hard for someone new to IT and Cisco to be able to tell which are the good ones and which are not. Unfortunately, this means many people pay too much, get inferior training, struggle with obtaining the right knowledge to pass the exams or worse be able to get a job. It is far easier to find instructors with just the basic knowledge to teach these courses so most of our competitors will get the cheapest talent they can find and generally this is the people with the least amount of skills and experience. Many times they are literally just months ahead of the students they are teaching.

The second problem is due to the age of the certification program there are many companies that simply sell cheat sheets and bootcamps designed to teach you the exam. At first this may seem like a good deal, but because there are so many CCNA, CCNP and even CCIE R&S certified people you will have a hard time getting through the interview to land your job. This means you get no return from your training investment.

The third problem is the certification is not worth as much as it used to be. The reason is due to the larger number of people with the certs, the fact that most enterprises have been using these technologies for almost 30 years and now even a low level network Engineer needs to be familiar with multiple technologies not just OSPF or Spanning Tree. Since it is not worth as much the current prices charge by training companies literally makes this a bad investment for most people. When you com

We see all of these problems as well as the benefits to still needing to have solid networking skills. We see most people transition from R&S to our other specialties (wireless, collaboration, security and design) and they struggle more when they don't have a solid networking foundation to build on.

So we set out to create the most innovative, accessible and affordable program in the market while making sure we add to the standard courses and use only the highest end talent we have to teach them.

Several of our instructors have been working with these technologies since Cisco created the certifications, our CEO first took his CCNA in 1998 when the certification was started.

We look forward to joining you on your journey to become an Expert

NC-Expert Institute of Technology

We have listened to our customer's voice and many have told us they are looking to take CCNA R&S to do a career change or as their entry into IT and Networking from another technical discipline. We realize for these situations there are several unique requirements for the training:

  • Often the training is being funded by the individual rather than sponsored by an employer and taking the two courses required by CCNA generally runs in the range of $5000-$8000.
  • The topics are too dense to learn a single concept in just an hour (no one can master subnetting or Spanning Tree in one hour).
  • Taking 10-days of training would require exposing their current employer to the fact that they are looking to move on or it would require the use of most, if not all, of their vacation time.

Our solution was to create a new and completely innovative approach in our NC-Expert Institute of Technology.

NC-Expert Network Engineer- Cisco Routing & Switching Specialist

Cisco CCNA R&S Authorized Certification Training - $1250.00

This program certifies an individual as a suitable candidate for the following positions in most corporations:

  • Network Operations Support Engineer
  • Entry Level Network Engineer
  • Vendor or Partner VAR Pre-sales Engineer

We use the Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Certification as the foundation of this program. We then add to this to ensure those that earn the NC-Expert Network Engineer- Cisco Routing & Specialist designation not only have the Cisco CCNA R&S certification but also have the full understanding of the technologies they are certified in.

Program Components

  • Authorized Cisco CCNAx Course- Includes content from ICND1 and ICND2- requires a single exam to earn CCNA Route and Switch
    • Course is taught over 90 days - After normal work hours to allow candidates to continue with current job with no time off
    • 2-Days per week for 2 hours (typically 6-8PM, three separate courses for US, Europe and Asia time zones)
    • The full CCNAx Curriculum is taught but topics are grouped allowing for optimal absorption and understanding
    • Homework assignments help the candidate to go through supplemental material such as RFCs to ensure full understanding of the topic is mastered.
    • Instructors bring 20+ years of real world experience deploying these technologies. We differ from other "universities and academies" in that our instructors have held senior positions and have been responsible for the design, deployment and operation of these technologies. Many of our instructors are not only CCIE level they were first that level over 15 years ago! Our most qualified people teach our entry level courses so we can pass on both knowledge and experience.
    • We go beyond the foundational topics, many of which are not used in the market today. These topics must be learned to create the foundational level needed in a Network Engineer but we prepare our candidates to also face the environments they will likely see in their first Network Engineering roles.
  • We provide Video Answer guides to all of the labs. This allows the students to do the lab work on their own time between class dates to ensure they master the procedures and have adequate time for Q&A with their instructor so they are more than prepared for both exam simulator questions as well as real world configurations.Coming Soon - Dec 15th
  • All candidates are invited to our LinkedIn Study groups where they can interact with instructors, peers and others studying through the same content.
