Cisco Route and Switch Training

Welcome to the NC-Expert Routing and Switching Portfolio

Cisco's CCNA, CCNP and CCIE R&S (Route and Switch) program is the oldest, and best-known, certification program in Cisco's portfolio, which started back in the early 1990's.

NC-Expert is one of a number training companies selling this product, so it is hard for someone new to IT and Cisco to be able to determine the good providers from the not-so-good. Unfortunately, this means many people often pay too much, get inferior training, or struggle with obtaining the right knowledge to pass the exams. It is too easy for training companies to find instructors with just the basic knowledge to teach these courses which means that most of our competitors will get the cheapest talent they can find... and generally these are the instructors with the least amount of skills and experience. NC-Expert is different: we choose only those instructors who have great teaching skills and the certifications/qualifications to provide the student with the best possible service.

Due to the age of the certification program, there are many companies that sell cheat sheets and bootcamps designed to simply teach you the answers to the exam. At first this may seem like a good deal, but this is doing the students (and their employers) a great disservice: if students are simply taught to "parrot" the answers, they learn nothing to help them with their jobs, or their career prospects. Also, if the student intends to continue on and take higher certifications, they will not have the requisite understanding to do well in those classes. This means they get no return from their training investment. NC-Expert is different in this area, too: we teach the student so they understand the "why" as well as the "what" of the concepts. We don't encourage cheating: we help the student to actually understand the material. This ensures they have the best chance in the exam *and* the best possible return for their training investment - both for the student and their employer!

We understand these problems because we often see students coming to us, from our competitors, for training who may have certifications on paper, but do not understand the material... so they struggle more than they need to, because they do not have the solid networking skills they need to progress to higher-level certifications or to switch tracks. We are here to help the student succeed. We will work with our students to make sure they succeed - hence our "free resit" policy. Our students can resit the lecture portion of our courses as many times as they need, for the material to really make sense! (Ask our competitors about their "free resit" policies!)

We have set out to create the most innovative, accessible and affordable classes and programs in the market while making sure we add quality "extras" to the standard courses and use only the highest-end talent to teach them.

Several of our instructors have been working with these technologies since Cisco created the certifications - which means they are completely conversant with them... and all the updates!

We look forward to joining you on your journey to certification success!

Our Instructors bring 20+ years of real world experience deploying these technologies. We differ from other training partners in that our instructors have held senior positions and have been responsible for the design, deployment and operation of these technologies in the "real world". Many of our instructors are not only CCIE level, but some were first to that level nearly two decades ago! We use our most qualified and experienced instructors to teach our entry level courses so we can pass on technical knowledge and context.

CCNA

The Cisco CCNA R&S is by far the most popular certification and where most engineers begin their path to becoming an Expert. Choosing NC-Expert ensures you get the best possible start to building a foundation that will ensure you master the technologies you will need to progress towards your ultimate goal of becoming an Expert. The two courses below are recommended to help you pass the two required exams to become a CCNA R&S.

There are two offical exam paths to get CCNA R&S:

  • The first option is to take two courses and two exams; ICND1 and ICND2 (Cisco has created a separate Entry level certification that you would earn along the way when you pass the first test for ICND1 called CCENT. This is typically all you need when going for other CCNA Speacilty tracks such as wireless to fulfil your pre-requistes.)
  • The second option is to take a single compact course and exam, CCNAX. If you are starting new to networking this will be overwhelming and likely make your learning difficult if not impossible.

(ICND1)Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices Part 1 Version 3.0

In this course, you will learn how to install, operate, configure, and verify a basic IPv4 and IPv6 network, including configuring a LAN switch, configuring an IP router, managing network devices, and identifying basic security threats.
