Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Almost all of our classes can be attended remotely.
Remote attendance is in real time - and class can be accessed from the comfort of your own office or home.
Our team has developed a presentation methodology whereby students don't miss out on anything except the stress and added expense of travel:
- they can interact with the instructor and other students just as if they were all in the same room,
- our labs are accessed identically for all students (regardless of attendance method), and
- class materials are provided to all students in exactly the same way*
We always deliver live/real-time, instructor-led training. We do not use pre-recorded video to present "instructor-led" classes.
*We ship hardcopy materials, to remote students, for CWNP classes. All other classes use electronic materials.
We are often asked for links to vendor certification information. Please see below for some of the most requested links...
Cisco provides information on its website, for currently available exams: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/training-events/training-certifications/exams/current-list.html
Links from the exam page provide information on individual course training, certification exams, re-certification, and provide additional information on exam revisions, along with their relevant FAQs.
Up-to-date information about currently-available CompTIA exams, along with testing methods and locations, and pricing is available from its website: https://certification.comptia.org/testing
CWNP - Certified Wireless Networking Professional
CWNP announces general exam updates on its website: https://www.cwnp.com/it-certification-exam-update/
In addition, CWNP may place class-specific information on its associated Course Outline page. Students are responsible to check CWNP's website for information about class/exam retirement and updates.
Each of the product pages (CWNA, CWSP, CWDP, CWAP, etc) contains a listing of exam objectives and, where available, a "what changed?" document with information comparing the new version and retired exams.
Specifically, we are often asked the question about CWNA recertification. CWNP's published policy is as follows: the CWNA certification is valid for 3 years. To recertify, the student can choose one of two options:
pass the current version of the CWNA exam (see https://www.cwnp.com/certifications/cwna), OR
pass one of the Professional-level certifications exams (CWSP,CWDP, CWAP) before your CWNA expires. By selecting option 2, the student's CWNA certification will be automatically renewed for a further 3 years.
This link to EC-Council's website explains the required certification process along with relevant information about the exams: https://cert.eccouncil.org/application-process-eligibility.html#edrp
ISC2 CISSP exam information is available here: https://www.isc2.org/Certifications/CISSP#
Mile2 provides a list of FAQs regarding its exams: https://mile2.com/support-faq.html?view=faq&catid=2
Please let us know if you have any questions about certification training or exams. We would be pleased to assist you.
We do NOT recommend this.
Students are encouraged to re-read and study their course materials -thoroughly- before attempting any exam.
In recent years CWNP performed a study of exam candidates which concluded two things:
- that the average time between attending class and sitting the exam was approximately 4-6 weeks
- those who attended instructor-led training (in person or remotely) were more successful in their exams than those students who attempted their exams following a course of self-study
We recommend that our students - no matter which training course they have attended: Cisco, CWNP, EC-Council, etc. - take some time to prepare themselves. If a student rushes head-first into the exam, without studying properly, they may miss a vital concept or other part of their study that may cause them to fail their exam. On the other hand, students should not put off the exam for too long - or they may forget what they learned in class!
By training with an instructor our students have a valuable resource at their disposal - we encourage them to use it. We welcome after-class questions. We also recommend that our students make friends with their classmates and arrange to study together. Helping others, and entering into discussions together, really helps to cement knowledge... and make studying fun!
We want our students to succeed and will do all we can to help.
Most of our vendors (i.e., Cisco, etc.) prefer PearsonVUE as their "proctor of choice".
To arrange your exam through PearsonVUE, go to PearsonVue.com then follow these instructions:
Once you reach PearsonVUE's homepage...
1. Top-left of screen, click the "For Test Takers" dropdown
2. Select "Schedule an Exam"
3. Select your program vendor (Cisco, Microsoft, etc.)
4. Sign into your program vendor account (or create one)
5. Follow onscreen instructions for arranging your exam
6. Select the most convenient site location
7. Select from the available dates/times
8. Once arranged, you may arrive up to 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time
PearsonVUE generally requires 24 hours notice prior to exam date to (a) arrange an exam, or (b) to make any changes.
If you have any problems while trying to arrange your exam, PearsonVUE's Customer Services can be contacted by calling (952) 905-7483 and is available Monday-Friday 7:00AM to 7:00PM (Central time zone).
NC-Expert's Pleasanton training facility is an authorized PearsonVUE Testing Center.
Most NC-Expert CWNP students will receive an associated exam voucher at the end of class. Please do not arrange CWNP exams prior to class attendance as NC-Expert cannot issue refunds for any unused exams (which may be included in a student's enrollment package). Exams are not transferable.
NC-Expert does not arrange exams onsite. Exams must be arranged, in advance, through the PearsonVUE website.

Company Founding and Ownership
Recently, questions have been raised as to the founding and ownership of NC-Expert. We would like to clarify this issue...
NetCertExpert, which rebranded under the "dba" name of NC-Expert for marketing purposes, and which operates under both names, was founded in 2011 by Rie Vainstein. She has solely and continuously owned 100% of the company since its founding.
Although persons may have been employed in positions of responsibility and visibility, at no time has any portion of ownership of the company been extended to any of those persons. Those persons were each engaged with the status of "employee". Any inferences or claims that any of those persons founded and/or, at any time, owned part of the company are completely false and misleading.
Bangladesh / India Branch
A company calling itself "NetCertExpert" has opened in Asia.
They say that "the best form of flattery is imitation", so we should feel proud that our reputation is so good that a company would want to duplicate our name.
However, please note that this company has *nothing* to do with the USA/California-based NetCertExpert, Inc. (dba NC-Expert) nor is it endorsed by us - the original NetCertExpert, Inc.
It has recently been brought to our attention that the company by the name of Sulekha has been promoting itself as an authorized agent for NC-Expert in the enrollment process for Cisco, CompTIA, and other IT training classes.
Although NC-Expert's company name, logo, street address, and Twitter feed appear on Sulekha's website, Sulekha does not have, and has never had, permission to represent NC-Expert.
Please note that any training obtained through Sulekha is *not* NC-Expert authorized. Sulekha representatives do not possess the ability to enroll the student in any NC-Expert classes, no matter what they may say. In addition, any "contact me" requests submitted through the Sulekha site will not be seen by any NC-Expert representatives.
NC-Expert is currently exploring legal remedies for this issue.
